Abstract
Optical Burst Switching (OBS) is a new switching technology for next generation optical internet. In this paper we describe the design and implementation of Just-Enough-Time Domain level Signalling (JET-DS), a new signalling protocol for hybrid control architecture of OBS control plane. The important features of JET-DS framework are its hybrid control signalling that supports end-to-end reservation of centralized and one-way reservation of distributed architectures, delayed reservation that efficiently utilizes network resources and flexibility that supports both guaranteed as well as best-effort lightpath establishment schemes. We also present different lightpath establishment operations of JET-DS. Finally we compare the proposed protocol with JIT and WR-OBS.
