Abstract
The main purpose of load frequency control is to keep the desired output power as well as to maintain the frequency at constant value during the variation of load. This paper describes the optimal load frequency control for a two-area interconnected power system using integral controller since it is the most common and available commercially to achieve better performance. The parameters of this controller developed by three techniques in order to obtain the best dynamic performance, which are Simulated Annealing (SA), Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The effect of changing the frequency bias on the dynamic performance of the system is investigated. Finally, the robustness of the proposed system is tested in case of model uncertainty.
