Abstract
There is an increasing interest in developing technologies that attempt to deliver content to users based on their location. Although many applications can be used for this task, there are still obvious limitations that require improvement. In fact, we are planning to develop a location-aware mobile application that give the event's organizers the ability to enhance attendee's experience by delivering digital content like PDFs, videos, and images based on the attendee's location. For this reason, this paper provides a comparison and discussion of the location-based technologies that can be used for content delivery. As a result of this evaluation, it is shown that the best technology for the requirements presented is the iBeacon technology. Moreover, a comparison between the applications that use iBeacon is provided to identify the best features that can be considered in designing efficient applications for location-based content delivery.
