Abstract
From 1989 to 1994, many public electric utilities in North-America, like Hydro-Quebec, proposed demand side management (DSM) programs for the industrial market. Those programs have been involved mainly for motor's utilization because of their impact on the total energy consumption. Since then, electricity surplus, dereglementation and low energy prices certainly contributed to reduce budgets for DSM. In that new context, this paper focuses on two aspects of the impact evaluation of efficient motors: a) based on a huge survey achieved by Hydro-Quebec, we first draw a detail picture of the motors utilization in the industrial market; b) according to various strategies, we discuss the possible impacts of efficient mechanical systems for the period 1995-2010.
