This paper argues a DC link regulation method for MTDC grids, which is based on master-slave controller combined with droop technique. The developed control strategy shifts between two operational modes. In a normal mode, DC link regulation is managed entirely by the master-slave controller, whereas in faulted modes, droop controller automatically steppes in. The boundaries dictate the transition between both control modes are defined by 10% dead-band characteristics.
