Conference Title: IGARSS 2017 - 2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium Conference Start Date: 2017, July 23 Conference End Date: 2017, July 28 Conference Location: Fort Worth, TX, USA In this paper, we performed an experiment to measure the penetration of P-band signal from SAR system using two trihedral corner reflectors. We deployed one in a deciduous grove of trees, while the other one was deployed 10 m distance away in a grass covered field. After system calibration based on the reflector in the clear, the results showed a reduction of 0.6 dB in the HH channel with 2.28 dB in the VV channel. Further, after calibration, the co-polarization phase difference is zero degree for the triangular corner reflector which was outside the trees and 62.85° for the corner reflector inside the trees. The larger attenuation at VV is attributable to the vertical structure of the trees.
