Abstract
Monophasic nanosize oxides of Barium Lead Zirconate (BPZ) of the general formula Ba1-xPbxZrO3 (x = 0, 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75) have been successfully prepared by metal organic precursor route. Powder X-ray diffraction shows the monophasic nature of the nanoparticles after annealing at 1000 degrees C. The grain size of the particles was estimated by Transmission electron microscope and comes out in the range of 81-95 nm. The decrease in BET surface area from 90-73 m(2)g(-1) corroborate well with the TEM particle size. Room temperature dielectric properties show highest value of dielectric constant (331) with low loss (0.0244) for x = 0.75. High dielectric constant with slight loss factor suggest Pb-substituted BaZrO3 may have potential use as a dielectric materials in electronic industry.
