Abstract
In this paper, a millimeter wave antenna based on SIW technology at 60-GHz is developed and studied in the context of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN). Horn antennas that have the advantage of wide bandwidth based on SIW technology to be integrated with other circuits are studied. SIW horn is created on RT/duroid 5880 substrate having relative permittivity epsilon(r) =2.2 and loss tangent tan delta = 0.002 with a thickness of 0.508 mm; first a single element H-Plane SIW horn antenna at 60 GHz is designed then to get beam scanning in the desired area, a switched beam antenna array is designed simply by placing the antenna in a circular pattern with an angle (22.5 degrees in our design). The antenna structures are modeled using CST Microwave Studio. The antenna achieves a peak gain of 12.6 dBi and the impedance bandwidth of 13 % for the reflection coefficient less than -10 dB. The results are verified by using another simulation software HFSS and found to be in good agreement.
