Abstract
Conference Title: 2017 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference (NSS/MIC) Conference Start Date: 2017, Oct. 21 Conference End Date: 2017, Oct. 28 Conference Location: Atlanta, GA, USA This study presents atherosclerosis measurement by utilizing bimodality positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT) with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) to assess tracer uptake in aorta, iliac and femoral arteries in three groups of elderly subjects categorized as normal (N), hypercholesterolemia (H) and subject with stable angina (A) within a 12 months follow-up period (T0 to T12). Our results in this longitudinal study showed that the calcification and inflammation defined by the accumulation of 18F-FDG are not correlated. However, the FDG uptake is stable for arteries with stable calcium score.
