The objective of this paper is to present an alternative to matrix-based techniques, namely the Parallel Finite Difference Time Domain (PFDTD) method, which enables us to solve large (in terms of Degrees of Freedom or DOFs) and complex packaging problems. A test structure provided by IBM is analyzed using the PFDTD to illustrate its application to such problems.
