Abstract
This paper studies intensively the spatial characteristics of the mobile channel for macrocellular environment assuming Gaussian distributed scatterers around the Mobile Station (MS). A recently proposed Eccentro-Scattering physical channel model is used to derive the probability density function (pdf) of the Angle of Arrival (AoA) of the multipaths at the Base Station (BS) in closed form which can be used further for beamwidth design purposes. Three main scenarios of macrocell environments are emphasized to simulate realistic situations. Previous work on the AoA statistics for Gaussian distributed scatterers is investigated and appropriate corrections are made. Simulation and theoretical results are presented, which show close proximity of the proposed model to real environments.
