Abstract
A wideband L-probe fed microstrip patch antenna with low cross-polarization is proposed and designed. By employing L-shaped feed and modification of E-H shaped patch, an antenna with 27% (550 MHz) impedance bandwidth (VSWR <= 2) and 9.33 dBi gain with gain variation of 1.21 dBi is designed. It is shown that the wide bandwidth is caused by a two-frequency resonance. The far field radiation patterns of the antenna are similar to those of conventional patch antenna and stable across the operating bandwidth.
