Abstract
Conference Title: 2017 International Conference on Computer and Applications (ICCA) Conference Start Date: 2017, Sept. 6 Conference End Date: 2017, Sept. 7 Conference Location: Doha, United Arab Emirates This qualitative study describes and models reputation motivation of Knowledge Sharing (KS) among academicians at a Malaysian public academic institution. A single case study approach was adopted to gather more meaningful insights on factors involved in building reputation motivation for KS. Data were collected from fifteen professors and associate professors through face-to-face interviews over a six-month period. Content analysis was used to extract, describe and model the qualitative data. This study makes two main contributions. Firstly, the study found that the academicians share knowledge with their colleagues, students and other academicians at both local and international academic institutions to establish a good professional reputation and enhance their image. Secondly, the study models the reputation motivation into a KS system. The research comprehensive analysis, and results expand an area of modeling of a complex KS motivational system, particularly among academic staff in academic institutions which, theoretically and empirically, may not yet have been adequately described and modeled.
