Abstract
Single phase polycrystalline samples of BixCo2-xMnO4 (x = 0.0, 0.1 and 0.3) were synthesized by conventional solid state reaction. The crystallographic structure of all samples is found to be cubic spinel (space group Fd3m). Partial substitution of Bi3+ in place of Co3+ varies the ferroelectric and ferrimagnetic transition temperatures. The magnetocapacitive effect exhibited in the temperature range 150 - 300 K suggests that the material can be envisaged as promising multiferroic.
