Abstract
Conference Title: 2018 21st Saudi Computer Society National Computer Conference (NCC) Conference Start Date: 2018, April 25 Conference End Date: 2018, April 26 Conference Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Internet of vehicles, IoV, emphases on the intelligent integration of humans, vehicles, things and environments as one entity that provides a greater network range that offers services for large cities. The conventional Vehicle Ad-hoc Networks, VANETs, are the core of IoV which aims to enable road safety, and efficient driving. VANET is part of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET), which means that every node can move freely within the network coverage and stay connected. VANET communication has become a highly active research field in wireless networking as well as in the automobile industries. The goal of VANET is to develop a vehicular communication system which will enable quick and cost-efficient distribution of data for the benefit of passenger’s safety and comfort. In this paper, we are surveying on IoV and its evolutions. In addition, the main aspects that can differentiate between the IoV and VANET are highlighted in this paper. We have designed the mobility of cars, the road and trace of movement using the Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) tool. Then, we have studied the exchange of data between the vehicles in the network under the supervision of Ad Hoc routing protocol, Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector Routing (AODV), by using the OMNeT++.
