Abstract
this study presents Gradient-based optimizer (GBO) to design the parameters of the model predictive controller (MPC) to enhance the performance of a two-area interconnected power grid. The considered system combines photo voltaic unit, and thermal unit. Furthermore, the integral of squared error is renowned to design the parameters of the proposed MPC controller. The performance of the proposed MPC controller is compared with optimal PI controller based different optimization algorithms (e.g. SMA-PI controller- FA-PI controller -WOA-PI controller, and GA-PI controller) under the system disturbances as well as system parameters variations. The comparative outcomes display the superiority of the proposed MPC based GBO over other control techniques for all considered operating conditions.
