Abstract
In this paper, we derive the theoretical expression of the number of detected tags per second for Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) systems. We derive the theoretical performance for ARQ and HARQI protocols. Our analysis is valid for Rayleigh and Nakagami fading channels. Two models are studied : Block fading where the channel remains constant over each packet and is independent among different attempts. The second model takes into account channel correlation between different attempts using a two states Markov channel model. The channel is modeled by a bad and good states and transition probabilities depends on the Doppler frequency. Our theoretical derivations were validated and compared to simulation results.
