Abstract
We present the synthesis of cadmium sulphide nanoparticles (CdS NPs), reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and reduced graphene oxide/cadmium sulphide nanocomposite (RGO/CdS) samples using a pulsed laser ablation in liquid technique. Photocatalytic degradation efficiencies of the synthesized materials were examined through degradation of Methyl Blue (MB) dye. RGOxCdS nanocomposites of various RGO weight ratios (x=1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11) were prepared to investigate how the weight loading of RGO in CdS affects its photocatalytic efficiency. The best photocatalytic efficiency of 77 % was obtained with a weight loading of 5% RGO in the RGO/CdS nanocomposite, which is 2.65 times superior to pure CdS.
