Abstract
Polarization observables in the reaction gamma d -> pi(0)d near eta-threshold with inclusion of rescattering effects are investigated. This work is motivated by the recent measurements for the tensor target spin asymmetry T-20 from the VEPP-3 electron storage ring at Novosibirsk. Numerical results for the spin asymmetries T-2m (m = 0,1,2) for tensor polarized deuterons and unpolarized photons are presented. It is shown that the influence of rescattering effects on the tensor target spin asymmetries is sizable, specially at extreme backward direction. We also compare our results with the recent measurements from VEPP-3, and find good agreement with data.
