Abstract
Recently, energy consumption has increased worldwide. In Saudi Arabia, total generation capacity reached about 74.3 GW in 2016. This increasing demand of electrical energy in addition to other factors such as environmental challenges being faced by the world and increasing oil prices have all led to the increasing use of Renewable Energy Resources (RERs). Consequently, Saudi Arabia aims to use Photovoltaic (PV) extensively in the generation of electricity in the near future, both in utility scale and residential scale. In this paper, the insolation and energy delivered from residential scale PV modules will be assessed in different cities within Saudi Arabia. Simulation tool will be used for this purpose.
