Conference Title: 2017 6th International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Informatics (ICEEI) Conference Start Date: 2017, Nov. 25 Conference End Date: 2017, Nov. 27 Conference Location: Langkawi, Malaysia Automotive industry and research community are currently focused on improving the intelligent transportation system by not only providing more safety features in vehicles but also to offer high quality-of-services (QoS) network applications to their vehicle users. This paper proposed a QoS-enable gateway selection (Q-eGS) algorithm that dynamically selects a small number of mobile gateway vehicles to act as gateways to Long Term Evolution (LTE) infrastructure network, depends on the load status of LTE network and QoS requirement of the VANET applications. The mobile gateway is responsible to aggregate other vehicles traffics and communicate to LTE infrastructure network in its IEEE802.11p coverage zone. The proposed algorithm is adaptive, whereby the mobile gateway is only defined when residual load capacity of LTE base station is below the specific defined threshold and delay tolerant application is in use. The proposed Q-eGS is based on multi-metrics gateway selection and simple adaptive weight (SAW) method is used to optimize the selection decision. Metrics related to receive signal strength, available load capacity, and the link lifetimes were utilized in selection process. The proposed Q-eGS algorithm is implemented using the integration of SUMO and NS2 simulator. The results show that, QoS of several tested applications were guaranteed over the proposed Q-eGS.
