Abstract
Cognitive radio (CR) technology plays a major rolein managing the spectrum resources and allocating themaccording to the requirements of the users. Few recent worksfocused on the problem of routing in cognitive networks. Werecommend an adaptation of on-demand routing since itsperformance has been proven to CRAHNs (Cognitive RadioAd Hoc Networks). As an example, we can find the CognitiveAd hoc On demand Distance Vector (CAODV). This protocolis based on AODV protocol. The main drawback of thisprotocol is that it doesn't support the degree of influence of theQuality of Service (QoS) parameters on the user perception. Then, a novel routing metric should be defined to optimize theuse of QoS mechanisms in relation to the user's Quality ofExperience (QoE) in the routing mechanisms. In this paper, wepropose to develop and implement a new protocol, calledQoS/QoE-CAODV, that integrate the QoS and QoE adaptionmechanisms in cognitive on demand routing protocol. Theperformances of QoS/QoE-CAODV protocol have beenevaluated by numerical simulations (OPNET 14.5). We haveobserved from results that the QoS/QoE-CAODV protocolprovides better performance in term of MOS (Mean OpinionScore), end-to-end delay, Delay variations and jitter parameters.
