Abstract
Building an engineering workforce with strong skills and knowledge is an important requirement for many companies, organizations, regions and countries around the world. In the 21st century, global competition and rapid advancements in science and technology will challenge the technical proficiency of the Saudi engineering workforce. For economic competitiveness and productivity, it is required to reform the engineering knowledge. Collaboration and integration of new technologies play an essential role in the knowledge-driven economy. To exploit the capabilities of people and technologies, businesses and organizations have to collaborate across different sectors throughout the region and across the globe. This paper presents some findings and recommendations to reform engineering knowledge in Saudi Arabia through the integration of new technologies and collaboration in order to prepare engineers for the 21st century knowledge-based workforce.
