Abstract
In this study, different expanded perlite aggregate (EPA) percents (7.5%,15%, 22.5% and 30%) were used in stead of fine aggregate (0-2 mm). The relationship between ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) and compressive strength (CS) of high strength concrete (HSC) are evaluated. CS and UPV were determined at the 3, 7, 28 and 90 days of curing period. HSC containing EPA showed good strength development with both wet and dry curing conditions. According to experimental results, both CS and UPV were decreased with increase of EPA ratios for both wet and dry curing conditions. However, with the increase of curing period, both CS and UPV of all the samples are increased. The increment in the CS due to curing period was higher than that of UPV The relationship between CS and UPV was exponential for percent EPA aggregate both wet and dry curing conditions.
