Abstract
Conference Title: 2016 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM) Conference Start Date: 2016, July 17 Conference End Date: 2016, July 21 Conference Location: Boston, MA, USA This paper presents a novel networked microgrids (MGs)-aided approach for service restoration in a power distribution network. A mixed-integer linear program (MILP) is formulated with two objectives, i.e., maximizing the loads picked up and minimizing the restoration time, while satisfying the operation constraints of the distribution system and MGs. The interaction among MGs is modelled as a MILP problem by using the type 1 special ordered set (SOS1) to maintain the power supply to critical loads in MGs and pick up on-outage loads outside MGs. The main contribution of this paper is to leverage networked MGs to facilitate service restoration. The model is tested on a modified IEEE 123-node distribution test system to validate the proposed scheme. The results show the effectiveness of applying networked MGs to service restoration.
