Conference Title: 2017 North American Power Symposium (NAPS) Conference Start Date: 2017, Sept. 17 Conference End Date: 2017, Sept. 19 Conference Location: Morgantown, WV, USA In this paper, the impact of global climate change, especially on distribution transformers, is addressed. A background on the effect of ambient temperature and operating temperature on distribution transformers is described. A case study using real data, corresponding to Chicago, Illinois, is implemented to investigate the effect of increasing ambient temperature on the lifetime of the transformer. Further, a view of our future path in this research is presented.
