Abstract
The aim of the present research is to eliminate the undesired steady state vibrations at selected locations or lines in a vibrating plate by means of adding attachments at arbitrary selected locations. These attachments can be either concentrated masses, translational or rotational springs which connected to the plate at one end and grounded at the other, translational oscillators or rotational oscillators. The influences of the added masses, the stiffness of the added translational and rotational springs and their attachment locations will be investigated. In addition, imposing lines of zero displacements (nodal lines) at selected locations will also be investigated. Parametric study will be carried out to study the sensitivity of the system response due to changes of the value of the added masses, the stiffness of the added springs, the attachments locations, location of the excitation force, and the excitation frequency.
