Abstract
The synthetic methodologies developed to prepare both linear-type and branched amphiphilic copolymers based on polystyrene (PS) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) are reviewed. These nonionic macromolecular amphiphiles include linear block, graft, star-block, miktoarm star, star-graft, dumbbell and arborescent copolymers. Emphasis is placed on the possibilities to obtain well defined architectures free of any contaminant through the control of the polymerization procedures.
