Abstract
This study is related to the students' participation in quality enhancement and quality assurance processes, which is not restricted to representation of the student view through formal representation mechanisms. It includes student engagement at undergraduate and postgraduate level, regardless of location, mode of study, teaching strategies, or discipline; it also puts in perspective the importance of the environment for student engagement. Student participation and engagement at the decision-making or governance level is valuable for both students themselves and their institutions (Fig. 1). That environment is expected to encompass the diversified needs of students and aims to ensure that all have equal access to educational opportunities (The UK Quality Code for Higher Education).
In Saudi Arabia the higher education institutes are still not engaging students in any formal representation with the exception of some negligible activities where they may have the students attend some of the top administration councils with restricted contribution to these forums. At the colleges levels there is a Student Consultation Council (SCC) for students, but it does not quite serves the purpose of what is anticipated thru student engagement. There are some efforts in bringing this idea in the institutes but it had not reached the desired level yet (KSU 2010). We must believe that the focus of quality assurance should be on the quality of learning and not only the quality of education, the role played by the student becomes very important. Examples of this will need the students' participation in workshops and meetings and invite them to express their opinions, either oral or written. And students will become experts in anticipation of a civilized requires a positive attitude, and participate in the development and improvement teams ongoing(QAA, 2010; KFU 2013).
