Abstract
This paper is aimed at preliminary study on the contribution of solar power within 15 years, since generation of electricity represents the highest percent of the fossil fuel consumption. The significant increase of electricity demand in Saudi Arabia means that power generation will expand and that will lead to increased consumption of fossil fuels. This rapid increase of the conventional generation is the major cause of environmental pollution and impacts on human health. Studies show that power demand in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (K. S. A) is expected to continue its significant increase to reach more than 100000 MW over the coming 10-15 years. Also, that will affect the fuels exportation and the country's revenue earning. Meanwhile, the main goal of the KSA 2030 vision is focusing on the economy and prosperity. Because of that, it is essential that an alternative method of electricity production is found to reduce the country's power generation dependence on fossil fuel.
