Abstract
The issue of students' academic performance has been the central discussions both in the public and the practice domains in the recent times. Practitioners and scholars are questioning the rationale behind students' academic performance and the factors responsible for this. This study investigated the relationship between information sharing and academic performance of students in Al Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia. Specifically, it examined the influence of information sharing on the academic performance of students in Al Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia. The study adopted cross-sectional research design with quantitative and questionnaire survey approach as its method. A convenient sampling technique was used to select 214 students from three major programmes in the university, who participated in the study. Data were collected from respondents comprising students undergoing diploma, bachelor and masters degree programmes at Al Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia, through self-administered questionnaire. The study analyzed the data using SMARTPLS analytical tool and the overall finding revealed that information sharing statistically and significantly affects the academic performance of the students at Al Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia. Reflectively, the finding also revealed that overall; the students' academic grades are very commendable whenever they share information with their other academic colleagues. Additionally, it was also demonstrated that both information availability and willingness to disseminate information are positively and significantly related to academic performance of students of Al Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia. In other words, students tend to achieve better performance whenever they share information particularly when information is available and they are also willing to disseminate such information among their colleagues or course mates. It is then concluded that information sharing is a significant predictor of academic performance of students in Al Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia. Finally, discussion on the findings and policy implications are equally presented.
