The introduction of 6LoWPAN adaptation layer enables the smooth delivery of packet from network layer to MAC layer. In this paper, the AODV-based routing protocol with the proposed route break position for fragmented and unfragmented packets in 6LoWPAN networks is introduced. The proposed mechanism is to measure the effects of route break position as the position is adjusted towards the destination node. The developed mechanism is examined under 6LoWPAN network using Qualnet simulator. Its effects are evaluated in terms of packet delivery ratio, throughput and delay.
