Abstract
In recent years, online abuse has emerged as a huge problem across the Internet and especially on social media. To deal with this unacceptable behavior, many social media providers have implemented built-in reporting functions on their platforms. Social media is used a lot in Saudi Arabia especially Twitter, Whatsapp and Instagram [15] also online abuse is growing. Thus, this research discusses and analyzes the parameters that influence the utilization and use of reporting functions in social media among the Saudi society. To achieve this aim, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Technology Readiness (TR) are adopted as the research framework. Also, perceived responsibility, perceived emergency, evaluation apprehension (social appraisal) and peer's influence are added as additional factors that can influence the adoption. The proposed framework is expected to be of great benefit to understanding what influences the use of online reporting functions.
