Abstract
The goal of interconnecting any kind of devices over the Internet justifies the vast expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT). These devices can interact autonomously among them and with users at affordable prices in their construction and development process. One of the sought aspects of this concept are the smart homes environment where house objects such as windows, curtains, doors, and lights are integrated with technology, becoming autonomous, with intelligent support, and can meet the preferences and needs of their users. Thus, this paper introduces a system of automated and sensor-monitored smart windows for smart home scenarios following an IoT-enabled approach. In the proposed solution, windows can be remotely controlled through a mobile app or via Web, or operate automatically according to the environmental data obtained by the sensors and predefined by users. This solution is evaluated, demonstrated, and validated, and it is ready for use.
