Abstract
A review with 113 references. Combined cycles using gas turbines exploit waste heat from exhaust gases to boost power output, resulting in overall efficiencies of around 50%, significantly above those of steam-powered plants. Various types of combined cycles are examined, including repowering, integrated gasification, and other advanced systems.
