Abstract
Reviews the situation on the library and information profession in Saudi
Arabia. Firstly shows the background with particular attention to the
country, the development, libraries and information centers. Then discusses
questions like: who ran libraries in the past, who is running libraries and
information centers now, and who will run them in the future3? Who actually
controls libraries in information centers - lay persons or professionals3?
Other subjects deal with effectiveness and efficiency in regard to the
manpower shortage situation and contain solutions for education, library
education, professional associations, library cooperation, national
planning.
