Abstract
In the title compound, C(16)H(16)O(2)S, the central propenone group is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.009 angstrom) and subtends dihedral angles of 8.55 (8) and 16.22 (8)degrees to the 2-methoxyphenyl and 2,5-dimethylthiophene residues, respectively. The dihedral angle between the ring systems is 23.47 (5)degrees. In the crystal, molecules are linked by weak C-H center dot center dot center dot pi interactions and aromatic pi-pi stacking [phenyl ring centroid-centroid separation = 3.6418 (11) angstrom; thiophene-thiophene ring separation = 3.8727 (9) angstrom].
