Abstract
The nitrogen oxides pollution arising from a nitric acid works was analyzed. Measurements were taken at ground level using continuous monitors during a six month period, and aloft at three heights within the plume using a specially constructed bag sampler. Measured concentrations were compared with predictions of a simple gaussian plume dispersion model. It was found that ground level concentrtions at 1-2 km distance from the source could be predicted reliably, but that close to the source, predicted values were greater than those measured experimentally.
