A novel paddlewheel or 'lantern' heteroleptic diruthenium guanidinate complex Ru-2(TBO)(2)(OAc)(2)Cl center dot 3MeCN (1 center dot 3MeCN) was synthesized and structurally characterized. Compared with a known tetra-substituted di-ruthenium guanidinate complex Ru-2(TBD)(4)Cl, 1 revealed structural dissimilarities with internal twisting.
