Abstract
One new flavonoid designated ajuganol (3), along with two other known compounds including 8-O-acetylharpagide (1) and 3-O-β-glucopyranosyl-stigmata-5, 25-diene (2) were isolated from Ajuga orientalis from Jordan. The structures of the isolated compounds were established based on comprehensive analysis of their UV–visible, IR, 1D, 2D NMR, and HRESIMS spectral data. All isolated compounds 1, 2, and 3 were tested for their in-vitro antioxidants activity using the DPPH• and ABTS•+ assay methods. Among the isolated compounds, ajuganol 3 had the highest antioxidant activity in both assay methods ((12.91 ± 0.21) × 10−3; (11.54 ± 0.40) × 10−3, respectively).
