Abstract
A distinctive fluorescence method for specific and sensitive determination of tedizolid (a novel oxazolidinone antibacterial) was designed. The presented method relies on fluorescence quencher-removal strategy, which turns the weak fluorescence signal of tedizolid into a stronger one, in acidic ethanolic system (pH 3.5), due to suppression of the intramolecular twisted internal charge transfer (TICT) process. Allowing its determination in bio-fluids and commercial dosage form without any interference at 395 nm after excitation at 300 nm, for the first attempt, the detection and quantification limits were 5.27 and 15.97 (ng mL(-1)), respectively over a concentration range of 25.0-800.0 ng mL(-1). Moreover, the high sensitivity of the developed method permits its clinical application for efficient and direct determination of the studied drug in biological fluids with good recovery (90.63 +/- 1.84%). Additionally, facile application of our intended method paves the way for application in quality control laboratories without sample pretreatment or exhausting extraction steps.
