Abstract
The modified Bai-Wierzbicki model allows for precise prediction of ductile fracture failure. For the upper shelf impact toughness assessment of pipeline steels through Battelle drop weight tear test, the model was extended to include strain rate and temperature effects. Through combined experimental and numerical approaches the parameters were adjusted to express the influence of strain rate and temperature on strain hardening. The results from VUMAT implementation of the model agree well with experimental results of pipeline steel x70.
To reduce the material parameter calibration effort, an UMAT implementation of the material model was used (in addition to the VUMAT implementation). (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
