Abstract
We consider a bulk service queueing system under
D-policy. Customers are served in batches of
r units if the queue length is not less than
r. Otherwise, the server delays the service until the cumulative service times of the customers in the queue first reaches the value
D. An ergodicity condition and steady-state probabilities are derived for the system size at a service completion epoch. A decomposition property is checked. Special cases are considered, illustrative examples are provided, and various system characteristics are computed.
