Methods: This was a prospective observational study of all adult patients admitted to the ICUs of King Abdulaziz Medical City-Riyadh and King Fahad Medical City-Riyadh between 2012 and 2016 and had Candida growth. Two thirds of patients had diabetes; one third had end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis; 16% had liver cirrhosis; 14% had recent surgery; 44% recently received antibiotics; 13% had neutropenia, 13% had active malignancy, and 12% were on parenteral nutrition.
