Abstract
This research stipulates the legal method in Islamic jurisprudence of transferring power or instating a ruler. It first clarifies the meaning of the pledge of allegiance. Then, it describes the duties and obligations of both the ruler and the ruled that arise from that pledge of allegiance.
Furthermore, it discusses the terms of the contract of allegiance and specifies those who are entitled to that pledge. Also, the paper defines the percentage of civilian satisfaction necessary to legitimatize the ruler. Finally, the research shows the Islamic position on the illegal seizure of power.
