Abstract

Life Sciences & Biomedicine Plant Sciences Science & Technology
Fast growing Rhizobium species isolated from locally cultivated Trifolium sp. showed highly active growth rate on a yeast extract-mannitol medium supplemented with 10% v/v root extract, prepared from the host plant. Such growth rate was accompanied with formation of bacteroids and decreased level of oxygen. Under these conditions the organisms reduced acetylene in the absence of the host plant.
