Abstract
The histochemical characteristics of the ileal Peyer's patches as well as the follicle-associated epithelium (FAE) in camels, at both prenatal and post-natal (young and adults) periods were studied using two histoenzymic reactions, namely alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase.
The alkaline phosphatase reactivity was observed into the FAE, the centre, corona and capsule of the lymphatic follicles.
The acid phosphatase reactivity was detected within macrophages and the reticular cells at the centre of the lymphatic follicles. The reaction was also seen within FAE, villous epithelium and the glandular cells of the crypts of Lieberkuhn.
