Abstract
Metal matrix composites (MMCs) are expected to be new materials with various excellent properties. In general, MMCs are classified into three types by the configurations of the reinforcements such as particulate composite, whisker-reinforced metal and fiber-reinforced metal. Although the industrial use of MMCs has been limited by the complexity of a manufacturing process or the high cost of production, particulate composites can be manufactured more easily using the melt-stirring method.
