Abstract
Providing adequate and affordable dwellings that Saudi households can acquire is one of the Saudi Arabia's (2030) Vision objectives. Providing housing opportunities, for individuals of all ages, income levels and abilities, falls within the sustainable livelihood, as part of the Quality of Life Program 2020. However, the high cost of obtaining and owning the single-family houses, a preferred model by Saudi households, prevents the achievement of this vision>s goal.
Since architectural design can be an effective tool for providing affordable and appropriate dwellings for Saudi households, the paper aims to present a designing experience of single-family house. Its built area is less than (232 m2), and built on a (200 m2) plot. This house design fits the Saudi households> functional needs, takes into account their socio-cultural requirements and complies with both the municipal building regulations and the design requirements of the Saudi Building Code.
