Abstract

Chemistry Chemistry, Organic Physical Sciences Science & Technology
Citric acid (10 mol%) performs as a new green Bronsted acid catalyst for the selective synthesis of 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazoles from a wide range of substituted o-phenylenediamines and aldehydes in moderate to excellent isolated yields (68-97%) using methanol as solvent at ambient temperature.
